Hello friends,
I’m a student of Sanskrit literature and love to read, write and learn languages. On this blog, u’ll find my attempts at composing poems, storywriting, literary translations and interpreting sanskrit shlokas. And I hope, u would like to read them! 🙂

I visited your blog after almost one year and was glad to see the articles on Marathi from the linguistic point of view. Keep it up.

Hello again,
This is Prashant Pardeshi from Kobe University, Japan. I am a linguist. I was working on constructions like “tyaane bangalaa baadhalaa” or “mi kes kaaple” wherein the subject of the sentence may not be the doer of the action denoted by the predicate. I was told by Prof. Peter Hook from Michigan Univ. that there is there is a discussion of this form-meaning mismatch in one of the commentaries on Panini–probably in Patanjali’s mahabhasya somewhere.
Since you know Sanskrit and you are doing linguistics I thought you will be the best person to consult on this. I do not have access to Mahabhasya here in Japan. If you come across any reference on this issue kindly let me know.
Thank you.
Prashant Pardeshi

Thanks for your comments. I would love to be of any help to you. Right now my exams are going on. Once they get over I will go to the library and look for the references on the issue you have mentioned. The soft copy of the text of Mahabhashya (without translation) is available on http://www.vedamu.org/home.asp .
